Barbeque Beans and Barley


1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can beer

˝ cup ketchup

˝ cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

˝ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring, or to taste

˝ teaspoon cinnamon

2 cans pinto beans, drained

2 cups cooked barley

4 tablespoons Benefiber®*


Bring the onion, garlic, beer, ketchup, brown sugar, and seasonings to a boil and boil gently 10 minutes or until thickened. Stir in the beans, barley and Benefiber and simmer 10 minutes more.

Yield: 4-6 servings

*The maximum daily intake of Benefiber for adults is 5 tablespoons, for children 7-11 years of age 2.5 tablespoons. Ask your doctor before using with children 6 and under.
